After the decision of the Libyan government to privatize in 2005. Al-Rayhan Pharmaceutical Company for importing medicines, medical supplies and mother care was one of the first companies to be established as a 100% private company with a capital of one million Libyan dinars as a private company affiliated with Al-Badr Group.
Al-Rihan has a workforce of 56 people, most of whom are pharmacists, chemists, doctors and accountants working full time in the main headquarters in Tripoli, in addition to 24 people in the Benghazi branch. With a promotional department of 8 doctors specializing in pharmaceutical marketing, in addition to 36 people as part-time distributors in Tripoli, and 21 people in Benghazi and surrounding areas. In addition to two distribution centers in Misurata and Gharyan. As for the eastern part, we have established another distribution activity in the cities of Al-Bayda, Derna and Ajdabiya.
Marketing and Promotion
Our distribution network is one of the largest in Libya, and extends all over the country. In addition to our warehouse in Tripoli, we established a new branch in Benghazi, to cover the eastern part of Libya and distributors in Sebha to cover the southern part with a population of approximately 800,000 people, And in Misurata and the surrounding cities, with a population of one million, with an agency for our company in the Western Mountains, which has a population of about 700,000 people.
The fact that marketing and distribution depends to a large extent on medical promotion according to the regulation of the Ministry of Health, and therefore there must be medical representatives, and in this regard, Al-Rayhan Company in Libya is considered one of the leading companies in medical promotion. It depends entirely on a trained national cadre. Al-Rihan Company is the sole and exclusive agent in Libya for the Danish company LEO pharma, which is mainly specialized in medical dermatological products. We are very proud that from 2012 and 2013 our company was ranked first in the LEO group in sales growth that reached 161% in 2012 Sales growth of around 80% in 2018 for LEO products reached €500,000/year. And also we have the Turkish agency ABDIIBRAHIM, which has provided in the Libyan market more than 36 products compared to another Turkish company as it was evaluated in 2018 in Category A by QCC. In addition to the English company Dermatonics specialized in dermatology for diabetics. As well as Biofarma, an American-Turkish company, Galenika, Nobel, and in 2020 Bayer, through our agreement with LEO for leather products. Our company also has a business in medical supplies in the Libyan market from the Italian company Pharma-Zban and the Japanese company KBM.
Al-Rayhan Company is now considered a reference in the field of products for dermatology. Moreover, we succeeded in achieving the largest annual increase in marketing activity in the Libyan market in 2020.
Equipped facilities and transportation
One of our main successes is the creation of special storage facilities equipped with an excellent cooling system until the freezing point to ensure that the quality and efficacy of medicines are maintained during transportation.
Due to our strong cooperation with customs department and quality control department, we can release any medicine to be in quarantine area in our storage warehouse until we get permission from quality control and customs to release it.
Our storage facilities are divided into four sections, one of which is for storing samples and advertising materials and is only used by the company’s medical staff without using the samples for any donation or sale. The second zone is the quarantine zone for any imported materials and is only released by the country’s quality control department, in coordination with the technical department, and no one is allowed to be in this department without permission. The third section is for products under distribution and only company employees are allowed to be in this area which is divided into two sections, a pharmaceutical section, and a section for medical supplies and maternal care materials including devices and personal care items and supplies. The fourth section of the drug requires a cooling area with special freezers, as the facility is equipped with devices to obtain the required temperature.
Company founders
That the founders and administrators of Al-Rehan Pharma. They are specialized, academically qualified and experienced persons in the field of medicine. The company’s chairman is Prof. Fawzi Badr, who has held several ministerial portfolios in the Ministry of Health, and is considered an expert in the pharmaceutical sector, in addition to his work as a professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Tripoli.
Also, Professor Musa Juaida as a member of the Board of Directors and General Manager of the Technical Department, who before that was a member of the Board of Directors of the Medical Supplies Organization (MSO) and Technical Director of (MSO) the main body responsible for importing and supplying all medical and hospital services. Pharmaceutical products for the public sector, he is also a professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Tripoli.
